Well, what inspired me to be a rapper, would have to be in 1982 or 1983, for me it was the first time listening to Too Short. When I first heard Too Short rap that’s when I knew I wanted to start rapping. Hearing him in the Sugar Hill Gang. The music I heard from Too Short inspired me to start rapping.

Who has influenced you and has been your greatest inspiration as an artist?

Too Short

Do you play any instruments?

I can play the drums a little bit.

Do you write all of your songs?

I write all of my music.

Where do you get inspiration to write?

I get inspiration from various sources and various things.

When you aren’t writing music, recording, or on the road performing, what do you like to do in your spare time?

Well in my spear time I like being around my kids and the family. I like kicking back and relaxing, and I also like to taking some vacation time and be around family members.

I would play professional baseball.

What’s the one thing about you few people know?

I like to laugh a lot.

So, maybe you’re a little bit of a comedian?

Right.

What words would you use to describe yourself in relation to your career?

Motivator, innovator, promoter.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with aspiring rap & hip hop artists?

Stick to your craft, try to stay all original. You don’t want to be a copycat and copy someone else, try to be different, try to be all original, and stay true to your work. Hard work pays off.

What’s next for you, are you working on another album?

I’m working on a lot of songs, that’s always a given. After this album I’ll put out a MacShawn dance album. Also, I’ll be promoting another artist.
